Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences at Air University

The Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences focuses on strengthening the Engineering and Management Sciences programs of the Air University. The Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences has three departments namely,  Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Mathematics and Department of Physics.

The total faculty members working in these three departments are 30 of which, seven have Ph.D degrees from leading Universities. They specialize in topology, image processing,  networks, software engineering, numerical analysis, mathematical modelling and computer simulation, radiation physics and solar energy and computational fluid dynamics.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a four-year undergraduate program in computer science. The Departments of Mathematics of the faculty has recently launched an MS course in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The department of Computer Science and Engineering has a four year bachelor course. It integrates technical Computer Science requirements with Institutional requirements and Electives to prepare student for a career in the Computers. The course also concentrates on practical knowledge. Moreover, students are encouraged to gain experience by working and experiencing real-time scenarios. To enable students meet the challenges of ever changing business world, the department of Computer Science and Engineering continues to advance its program.

Course offered in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Bachelor of Computer Science: This is a four years program which has eight semesters. To be eligible for this course applicant must have minimum of 50% marks in FSc Pre-Engineering or ICS or Equivalent. Also, there is an entrance test and interview which each candidate needs to clear.

Department of Mathematics

Department of Mathematics is the heart of the Department of Engineering. Engineering Mathematics has developed swiftly along technological advancement. Mathematics has also been crucial for business studies. Therefore, implementing a specialized Mathematics course for Engineering and Management program requires extensive research and effort. The Faculty of Mathematics works closely with Engineering and Administrative Sciences departments for developing the relevant programs.

Course offered in the Department of Mathematics

Recently, the department of mathematics has introduced the MS in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing course. It is developed, keeping in mind the real world challenges and how the appropriate skill set can be created for students to help them handle such conditions.

This is a two year post-graduation course for students who have prior education in the field of Math/Physics/EE/ME/MT/AE/CS/SE/IS/CE/IT. The syllabus also includes research work, that is to be undertaken by students. This is however an evening course where the classes are conducted between 3 p.m.to 8 p.m.

Department of Physics

Physics is an integral part of science. It is basic for all the applications, principally in engineering, science and technology. The department of Physics is still in its early stages. Currently, it is a support department for Engineering Department and does not offer any degree program. The faculty members of this department are working towards its enhancement.
